The
British Virgin Islands, known as the BVI, are located in the northern
part of the Caribbean, easily reached from Europe, North America, and
South America as shown on the map above. The islands of the BVI are grouped
around Sir Francis Drake Channel, renowned as the most beautiful and tranquil
of sailing waters in the world. As part of the Leeward Islands, the BVI
is comprised of more than fifty islands and covers an area of 60 square
miles (150 square kilometers). The two largest are Tortola and Virgin
Gorda.
Lambert
Beach Resort is on the north-eastern section of Tortola, capital island
of the BVI. The hotel is only 10 minutes from Beef Island Airport and
15 minutes from Road Town. There are many ways to reach the islands. Daily
passenger flights between the BVI and the U.S Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico,
St. Maarten, Antigua and St. Kitts are provided by LIAT airlines, Sun
Air, American Eagle, and Windward Island Airways.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands
Tortola
is a luxurious island with much of it being quiet and undeveloped. The
focus of life in the BVI centers on the water. The islands are often
called "the watersports capital of the world". They are perfect
for marine activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, day sailing,
and fishing.
The islands, virtually untouched, hold a certain fascination that leaves
one amazed at their natural beauty. Land based activities include hiking,
horseback riding, tennis and other sports.
Climate
The
British Virgin Islands are blessed with a calm and tranquil climate
year round. Temperatures during the winter months range from the low
70s in the evening to the high seventies to mid eighties during the
daytime hours. During the warmer summer months temperatures may reach
to the high eighties, but always with a pleasant sea breeze to stir
the air.
Although other islands in the Caribbean are often beset with inclement
weather late summer to fall, the BVI rarely suffers from more than a
brief early morning or evening shower.
